UX/UI DESIGN:

DermTech WEB Revamp

I was asked by leading genomics company, DermTech, to help redesign their website. They wanted to keep the same branded style they had come up with and focus mainly on layout changes to their web pages.

I designed a user interface and flow which allowed DermTech to more effectively communicate with and serve their patients and providers while highlighting the key benefits of their products and resources.

THE CHALLENGE

DermTech wanted a site that was both consistent with its own branding and that provided specific functionality for its users. Their site was lacking organization of their content. Looking at their webpages it was unclear what their products were and how a provider could implement the tools in their practice and/or a patient learn whether or not they would be a good fit for the product.

THE APPROACH

I conducted stakeholder interviews and reviewed the existing site content to get a sense of what kinds of improvements DermTech was envisioning. Having worked with the company for several years, I was already well-grounded on the company's products and had a solid understanding of their target audiences.

This helped me frame the following question prior to putting together my designs:

How might we develop a more enticing online presence that better illustrates DermTech as a whole to their patients and providers?

MY SOLUTION

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

After analyzing their current site, I decided the site needed to be simplified and re-organized. I created and presented a sitemap to stakeholders which helped clarify key elements and features to highlight on the pages.

SITE DESIGN & LAYOUT

DermTech's previous website was overloaded with content and lacking clear messaging. The company's branding was also not clearly defined and needed a bit of direction. I decided to pull out powerful phrases from the current content and tell a story throughout each page.

The revamp is still currently being developed and we plan to launch the site Q1 of 2020.
